One thing is certain; Atlantic
Christian College is going to
change, and future graduating
classes will reflect that change.
We can hope that the change will
be for the better.
When the seniors walk across
the stage next month they will
have completed a broad and
diversified educational ex
perience. They may have
majored in business, but they
also studied art. They may have
prepared for the ministry, but
they struggled with algebra.
They may be certified English
teachers, but they did some
work in a science laboratory.
And if they are nurses, they also
studied religion and music and
literature.
What will they find here when
they return for future
homecomings? No doubt they
will find innovation, change, and
new approaches to education.
But while they were here they
received the best we had to offer.
The experience of the next
student generation is unknown
now, but it will be different.
On Wednesday, April 19, 1978
at 8:00 p.m. in Hardy Alumni
Hall, The Campus Christian
.teociation presents in concert
The Howard Hanger Jazz
Fantasy.
The Jazz Fantasy (formerly
the Howard Hanger Trio) an
nually presents hundreds of J azz
Theater and Jazz Worship
programs. During the past year
they have toured Greenland,
Belgium, Netherlands, Ger
many, Saudi Arabia as well as
their regular domestic schedule.
Their Jazz Theater program is
drama in concert. Utilizing
dance, visuals, varieties of
musical styles and theater
cuttings, they offer an intelligent
and stimulating approach to
entertainment. The idea is to
make the entertainment ex
perience as complete as possible
in a concert setting.
The Jazz Mass or Jazz Wor
ship program is specially
designed for each situation.
Ranging from a full requiem
mass to a deeply subdued
mediatation experience, the idea
is to give free reign to the
worshipper in a 20th century
framework.
Howard Hanger (the leader of
the group) has travelled with his
n similar groups for the past
12 years under the name “The
Howard Hanger Trio”, He
fwsived his musical training
Pfivately and the Florida State
'niversity Conservatory in
Jacksonville, Florida, under
person Yessin.
The Jazz Fantasy was
featured in 1973 on five ABC
Specials and is currently
scheduled to do a one-hour
<iocumentary for national Public
television.
This summer they are
scheduled to tour the Caribbean,
