Workers Must Go “All-Out” For A Total Victory Too' The American fighting man to day aims to do two things: To destroy the enemy, and to stay alive. The American working man to day also has two aims: To make whatever the fighting inan needs, and to keep himself tit.to go on turning out whatever the fighting man needs. Our fighters are doing their part. How about the workers? The answer is yes and no. Our workers are turning out the goods — the ships, tanks, guns, shells, planes, cigarette paper, and a thousand other things for the fighters. That’s the “yes” answer. But last year 47,500 workers Were killed by accidents—mostly accidents which they, themselves, could have prevented. That’s the “no” answer. Most of these workers — 29,000 of them in fact—were killed when they were off-the-job, away from the plant, on their own. A hundred thousand others were permanently injured off-the-job and over two million were hurt badly enough to be laid up a longer or shorter period of time. That’s more “no” answer. American workers won’t be “all- out’ in this war until they practice the rules of safety off-the-job as Well as on — until they learn to ^6ep themselves on the job, Trio And Chorus Also Get Big Hand. They all go to the butchers, who need ’em to wrap up their customers’ meat orders.” Nobody claims the Dutch think it’s funny either. lin, Mary Sue Jennings, Edna Earle Nanney and Ruth Perry.
