& Fire Prevention Week Oct. 3-9 STR-R-R-IKE OUT THE FIRE MONSTER! Needless fire is batting for a 1000 in these United States, In one year fire kills about 11,000 Americans, injures and disfigures twice that many and every day causes nearly two million dollars’ worth of property to go up in smoke at the current rate of burning. In the face of the nation’s greatest housing shortage, fire attacks a home, somewhere in this country, every two minutes—right around the clock. Six schools, where our youngsters spend most of their time, burn each and every day of the year. Ninety percent of all these fires are preventable. We can strike out the batter—FIRE and leave him "hitless” if we put into daily practice the simple fire prevention precautions.
