Over sixty people actively participated in the May Day program. That’s over half of the entire day school student body. Stop just a moment and consider the time and labor required to design and build the sets, hand- tailor costumes, adapt the story and rehearse for endless hours. This work was done on a voluntary basis in the students’ spare time. Lack of space prohibited listing names of all the people associated with the program, but to all may we say—a job well done! RICHARD FORD SINGS DURING STUDENT ASSEMBLY All the professional poise and art istry of the metropolitan operatic platform was brought to Seely Hall Wednesday, March 14, as Richard Ford, prominent Asheville attorney and musician, thrilled an apprecia tive student audience with Beeth oven’s beautiful song cycle, “An Die Feme Geliebte.” Singing with the same precision that has made him a favorite with local music lovers. Ford also in cluded in his program “Sapphic Ode,” by Brahms, Winter Watt’s “Blue Are Her Eyes,” “My Lady Walks in Loveliness,” by Ernest Charles, and the traditional Negro spiritual “Ride On, King Jesus.” The young baritone was accomp anied at the piano by Mrs. Ford, the former May Jo Denardo. Ford has announced his intention of run ning for the city police court solic itor post now held by Will Hamp ton.
