Women’s Basketball by Katherine Sullivan On November 4*'' the Brevard College Lady Tornadoes opened their season with an im pressive victory over Clinton Jun ior College of Rock Hill, South Carolina. The final score was 82- 68. Leading scorers were Quita Foster with 27 points, Holly Miller, with 20 and Deia Mack with 18 points. On November 9"’ the Lady Tornadoes improved their impressive 2-0 record with an 80- 53 win over Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The Tornadoes were led in scoring with Holly Miller’s 19 points and Quita Foster’s 17 points. Karamie Hartman recorded the first double-double of the sea son with 10 points and 12 re bounds. On November 11'*' the Brevard College Lady Tornadoes faced their first lost against Truet- McConnell College by a score of 83-61. Deia Mack led The Lady Tornadoes in scoring with 17 points. Karamie Hartman added her second consecutive double - double with 11 points and 11 re bounds. Congratulations and good luck to the Lady Tornadoes. Men’s Basketball On November 4"’ the Brevard College Tornadoes also started their season with a loss to Clinton Junior College. The lead ing scorer was Eryon Fred with 28 points. On November 9"' the Brevard College Tornadoes lost another tough contest against Fort Jackson, South Carolina at home. The final score 78-7 L Brevard Col lege was led in scoring by fi-esh- nian forward Matt Keaton with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Other lead ing scorers included sophomore Eryon Ford who added 15 points for Brevard College. Good Luck with the remainder of the season. To start off the month of Novem ber, the Men’s Soccer team beat North Greenville College 7-0. Belete Zerihun and Greg Griffin both scored two goals each. Picture by April Shammel Women’s Soccer The Brevard College Women’s Soccer Team completed a successful weekend in St. Louis MO. The Lady Tornadoes defeated two top ten opponents. The women won against the College of DuPage with a 5-0 win. Leading scorers were Tricia Cooper with two goals and Joy Nsubuga and Elin Brask and Malin Sjoqvist each scoring a goal. Wendy Boudreau earned an assist to make the impressive5-0 score. The Lady Tornadoes also defeated Lewis and Clark College with a 4-0 score. Leading in scor ing were Keisha Prescott, Elin Brask, Wendy Boudreau, and Rachel Scalf, each contributing with one goal. This concludes the regular season for the Lady Torna does and good luck in the upcom ing playoffs. The Lady Tornadoes suc cessfully completed their first match of playoffs by a resounding defeat over Spartanburg Method ist College with a score of 8-1. This means that the Lady Tornadoes will be back in action with upcoming district and national games. Women’s Volleyball The Women’s Volleyball Team defeated Columbia College of Columbia South Carolina with scores of 15-3,12-15,17-15. On November 9“’ The Women’s Volleyball Team defeated Spartanburg Methodist College with a score of 3-0 to win yet an other Region X Championship. Brevard College won with scores of 15-11,15-8, and 15-9. Brevard College Women’s Volleyball will be count ing on your support as they com pete in their district matches. Good luck to the volleyball team. Cross Country: An Update At press time the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams competed in the South eastern Classic at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee on Saturady, October 31,1998. The women were led in scoring by Aimee Salzer and Katherine Sullivan finishing 23^“* and 27‘\ The men were led in scoring by Tyler Sutterby in 18* and Justin Turner and Ryan Knopfle finishing 20"' and 50*. The next meet will be The Junior College National Championships. This meet will be held at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas on November M*.
