September 8,2006 — The Clarion SPORTS Page 11 Volleyball falls short at Southern Wesleyan by Amethyst Green Staff Writer On September 5, the Lady Tornados took on the South ern Wesleyan University War riors at Southern Wesleyan. Al though they played good freshman Leah Thomson with 8 kills and junior Jessica Whitmire and freshman Brooke Seaman with 5 kills each. Also, junior Brittany Holliday had 13 digs, while freshman Leah Thomson had 15 digs. The Lady Tornados made Volleyball fell to SWU on Sept 5 games, they were unable to come up with a win. The team was down, but vowed to come together to pull off future wins. All of the matches were somewhat close. The score for the first match was 23-30 Southern Wesleyan; the sec ond match was 18-30; and the third match was 23-30. The leaders in stats were photo by John Billingsley desperate attempts to come back, yet they just couldn’t shake off the first two losses to do so. They played hard and should bounce back from this defeat. The next game for the Brevard College Lady Torna dos Volleyball is Friday, Sep tember 8, at 6:30 p.m. They will play Covenant. We meet Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in MG 138 BC 0, Abbey 1 i k Owen Carson carries the ball photo by John Billingsley Tornados lose thriller The BC men's soccer team dropped a close game to Belmont Abbey College 1-0 on September 3. After a scoreless first half that saw the Tornados reduced to 10 men. Abbey scored late in the second half to seal the win. Coach Nelson said that the boys played with a lot of heart and should be proud of their performance. The Tornados fall to 0-5, while the defending CVAC champions, Belmont Abbey, improve to 2-2. The next game will be Wednesday, September 13 at home against Milligan College. The game starts at 2:00 p.m.
