Felix checks out; Hurricanes check in!
Felix stayed away from Lou-
isburg, but the Hurricanes blew
into town over the weekend of
Aug. 19.
Approximately 450 resident
students, with the help of nearly
1000 friends and family mem
bers, checked in, moved in and
tried to settle into the residence
halls before the first day of
classes. As a result of the enroll
ment increase some of the men
found themselves checking into
the basement of Hillman Hall for
the first time in two years and into
the basement of Kenan Hall for
the first time in several years.
A full slate of orientation ac
tivities were in place for the first-
year students to become comfort
able with the college campus.
Those activities ranged from
tours of classroom buildings to
discussions with second-year stu
dents and an intramural fun-fest.
About 100 students attended the
Blizzard of Bucks game show
that evening. Welcome back!

This issue of Columns is dedi

Strickland. Mrs. Strickland
was taken from us in a traflBc
accident Friday, August 18.
She served as the infirmary's
overnight nurse and was loved
by all students that came into
contact with her. She will be
greatly missed.
