(AP) — The Bourbon County School Board has teceived a $22,800 federal grant for a program to try to reduce dropouts among county high school students. The money Is for the nejrt year. More is forthcoming In the following two years. Kentucky, with a dropout rate In high schools of 42.8 per cent, is second in the nation only to Georgia’s 43.2 per cent. From thejSidelines By Preston Stone The PE department extends a welcome to all Freshmen and transfers. We hope to have a very active sports minded cam pus this year. This will be possi ble with your support. Intramurals start next week, with the men playing touch foot ball and the women playing vol leyball. The girls will play as dorm teams, while the meii will divide into five teams. All men students are suH>osed to meet in the LA auditorium today (Friday) in order to elect team captains and acting presi dents. Please stay off the track. It is not yet comple;*, but should be finished within the next month. A man student is need as the Knight-school mascot. If you are interested contact Coach Hack ney. Prospective cheerleaders should contact last year’s cheer leaders as to tryouts. We would like to see more men students try for cheerleading. Mr. Choung II Chee, new pro fessor with the C&C teachii^ staff, will be helping organize a soccer team. Mr. Chee played soccer in both high school and college, and has had some coach ing experience.
