In ■itlon to these people the presidents and the vice presi de nts of each dorm have been authorized to both sell pins ^ and balloons and to accept do- jjjBons. ■ fm THE LANCE for Peace Corps Campus Next Week want to give students a chance,” stated Carvahlo, “to sit down for a few minutes with us, if they are interested in either the Peace Corps or VISTA, and ask us any questions they may have.” There will be two films pre sented on the 16th, one for VISTA, one for the Peace Corps. The film concerning the Peace Corps is entitled “Triunfo”, which translates “Triumph.” It is the story of two Peace Corps volunteers who are sent to Triunfo, a small fishing vil lage in Honduras, and of their experiences living and working among the people. The Peace Corps and VISTA are, right now, especially in terested in students who have graduated from college with majors In math, science, educa tion, and business, and also any one with an agricultural back ground. The Peace Corps and VISTA are the two major organiza tions in the organization A.C.T.LO.N,, which was ori ginated by President Nixon. There are seven organizations enveloped in A.C.T.I.O.N., who all trying to keep their own identities. Ray Tidwell has been in the Peace Corps for 2 1/2 years. For most of that time, Ray worked in India at agricultural extension. He worked with and advised farmers in grain and vegetable production. He was also responsible for caring for some of the wheat that was in troduced to India by Nobel Peace Prize winner Norman Boularg. Delano Carvahlo, who is from Recife, Brazil, has spent almost five years in the Peace Corps as a trainer for volunteer work ers who headed for Brazil. Basically, he taught the Portu guese language and many of the Important cross-cultural customs and backgrounds ofthe people of Brazil. Delano feels that nations should learn more about each other and In that way rid nations of most of their stereotypes and stereotyped beliefs. ‘‘I believe in cultural exchange, that people must get to know and accept these cul tures. Americans know as lit tle about Brazilians as the Bra zilians know about the Ameri cans. ^^eceptlcles will also be at various locations on 'ipus to receive donations.
