PAGE 4 THE DECREE MONDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1970 a tvteVi look by TorQ Hardison ^ Bishop Cagers Steal Every year, I suppose, there are certain rooms in the dorm that take on certain roles to help us forget tomorrow’s test or yestday's failures. In Edge combe these rooms have crept up again, without much fanfare and hoopla. They, masked as rooms where male students sleep have taken up certain quests, and the whole male pop- ulus has subscribed to what goes- on in one or more of the rooms. Room 108 is the T.V. room ■where everyone comes to lay down and watch T.V.—just as loiig as something good is on channels 9 or eleven. That’s where the Carson fans hang out, where cokes flow like wine and •where potato chips crunch un til 1:00 at night. This room also doubles as the trash bin, where one must walk softly or perhaps unveil, under the ruins, a pair of underpants shed the first morning we were here. Another, more spectacular room in Edgecombe is 118, “the game room,” where at any hour of the day or night young men, clad in the skimpiest of things can be seen walking out with the frown of defeat or the smire of victory. The room Is equipped with stereo tape, T.V., refrigerator, hockey game, football game, drag strip game, soccer game and a deck of cards. Plus, the snack bar is right across the hall and its convenient to the stairs. This is the room where the fun is--room 113, where the Vi kings meet the Jets right after Civ class, where the Bishops meet the foes all over, where the Canadians meet the Maple Leafs right after dinner. This room of rooms, where the mas- culin male egotryswith vigor to win in order to keep playing. If you lose you know that you’ll have to go study for that test, or finish the paper due yester day. Quite a layout, to be sure, where we lose all track of time and sink into hand to hand combat with a dor mm ate to see who can think the fastest and move the quickest. And the los ers have to go to their room and study. It’s just a way to forget; forget why we’re here for a while. To enable us to hock it for awhile and let at a small amount of the pressure gush out with a touchdown, a goal or a pat hand. We just get to forget; forget why we’re here for awhile. I hope we don’t forget for too long. Letters To The Editor (Continued From Page 3) for each vehicle going to this area would be $168.00. Even should the car be filled with six people, the cost to each in dividual would be $28.00. Since the block program is part of Wesleyan’s academic program, I feel the college should ac cept the responsibility for this cost. The college furnishes buses for classes at the bowl ing alley - is this not the same principle? The college fur nishes transportation for athle tic teams. Is this not more important than the academic program? Not only should the school furnish our transporation, but they should also reimburse us for our morning and noon meal. Going to Roanoke Rapids would necessitate our leaving campus at TiSO a.m. Consequently we would need to eat breakfast at 7:15 a.m. The cafeteria is not open at this time. We will also be absent from our noon meal. At a cost of $0.90 per meal, we should receive a total Qf $63.00. The total cost of the two mat ters in question is $91.00 ,.for each participating student. With 30 students in the block program, the grand total is 12,730.00. " I’ have discussed the mat ter with the comptroller’s of fice but did not receive a sat isfactory answer. I feel this is a matter of utmost impor tance and would like the other students in the program to be aware of the situation. There will be a petition available in the S. U. Willie scored Wesley an’s first point of the night on. a foul shot with 18:37 on the clock, it was also Willie that tied the ballgame 8-8. With 11:15 showing, Jake Barnes put the Bishops ahead for the first time 10-8 on an outside jump shot and they never trailed again. It was a close game all the way and the Bishops had a slight two-point lead and nothing was going to stop this determined team. Under a bal anced scoring attack the Bis hops made history by a nine point margin.
