"tuffy" keeps watch HAVE SAFE VACATION The latest member of the warehouse force has no specific title. Some call him a watchman, some a rat watch er, and some say he is the foreman. Anyway, he spends much of his time on George Neal's Tuffy desk, apparently getting acquainted with the Record Keeping Department of the warehouse. The rest of his time, Tuffy spends patrolling the premises. Tuffy did not come to work, nor was he employed through the regular channels. He was born on the job. Shortly after his birth, his mother and his brothers and sisters moved out of the spacious quarters in the warehouse, but Tuffy chose to stay and chase the rats and mice in his birthplace. Tuffy also is official greeter for newcomers. Too much time under the sun will be frying many skins during vacation. Sun tans can be admired, but can be painful if we try to do the trick too quickly. Take the sun in shorter ex posures until the skin has been con ditioned. Boating has already taken toll of several lives in North Carolina this year. Life preservers are just what their name implies. Better to be just a little tired of wearing the pre server than to be a dead dummy in the bottom of the lake. While speaking of vacations, let's arrive there safely. Keep our minds on the road while driving. A common fault frequently leading to accidents on the highway is the driver not having his attention to what is going on around him because of distractions. A back seat driver diverts his attention, a child disturbs the driver, a blaring radio drowns out the noise of another car passing. The mind is taken from the highway for a split second and we fail to live to tell just what happened.
