THREE RETIRE FROM KERNERSVILLE PLANT MRS. HASTINGS EUGENE COLEY WALTER TATE After twenty-five years of service with Adams-Millis Corporation, Mrs. Beatrice Hastings retired April 5, 1962, on the basis of age. She was employed on March 9, 1936, as a mender, later being transferred to the Inspecting De partment where she worked until mend ing was discontinued in 1956. Her last job was finished mending. Mrs. Hastings is a member of Sedge Garden Methodist Church and resides on Route #3, Kernersville. R. Eugene Coley, head fixer of Plant #4, retired April 19, 1962, on the basis of total and permanent dis ability. Eugene began working at the age of 16 for the Vance Hosiery Company in Kernersville where he learned to knit and fix. In 1927, he came to work for Adams - Millis Corporation's Pied mont plant in High Point where he re mained until November of 1937 when he was transferred to the Kernersville plant. Coley left the company in No vember of 1941 to go into defense work for the duration of World War II; how ever, he returned in September of 1948 and worked until June of last year when his health became too poor for him to continue. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Kernersville. He and Mrs. Coley, who is a former em ployee of Adams-Millis, reside at 162 Baxter Street in Kernersville. Walter L. Tate retired April 27, 1962, on the basis of total and perma nent disability. He was employed by Adams-Millis on February 16, 1943, as a top turner and was later trans ferred to the Boarding Department where he worked as a boarder. Walter's health has failed continuously since 1957, with his ability to work being limited, thereby necessitating his re tirement. He is single and resides with his parents on Route #3, Kernersville.
