TETANUS CLINIC TERMED SUCCESS Bob Bates, Shipping Room fore man of Plant #1, was one of 785 who received tetanus shots at the Adams- Millis plants first tetanus clinic in April and May. Dr. R. V. Cross was administering physician. Bob says, "Didn't hurt a bit. " The April clinic was the first of three to be sponsored by the Guilford County Medical Society and Health De partment. The second clinic to be an nounced soon will be on the same ba sis with the shots offered to persons 14 years of age and older at 50^ each to cover the cost of the vaccine. The doctors are making no charges for their time and services at the clinics. In addition to Dr. Cross, Drs. Phillip Davis, Paul Brigman, and L. L Wilkinson administered the shots in the Adams-Millis plants. According to Dr. Davis, chairman of the tetanus clinics, similar arrangements will be made for administering the shots in our plants during the second and third clinics. The dates will be announced as soon as the schedule has been com pleted. The third dose of the vaccine will be given in May 1963. If you missed either the first or second clinic, visit your family physician and get the second shot; then, you will be ready for your third shot when the clinic is set up next year. A person who has never had tetanus toxoid should have a series of three shots, with the second one coming 30 days after the first. The third shot should be given one year later and then booster shots given about every 4 years. A son, Scott Thomas, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. (Tommy) Bennett on May 11, 1962. Tommy is in Quality Control at Plant #1 where Mrs. Bennett was formerly employed in the Pairing De partment. A son, Kenneth Ray, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold R. Laws on May 9, 1962. Arnold is a fixer in the Knitting Department of Plant #1. A daughter, Kimberly Dawn, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel A. Hill on April 21, 1962. Daniel is a fixer in Plant #1. A son, Douglas Keith, Jr. , was born to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas K. Rickard on May 8, 1962. Douglas is. a knitte r in Plant # 1. A daughter, Deborah Ann, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Byrd on May 14, 1962. Ralph is a fixer at Plant #1. A son, Steve Allen, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Shaw on April 19, 1962. Carrol is a fixer at Plant #4 where Mrs. Shaw (Nancy) is employed as a seamer. 8 -
