COST COMMITTEES APPOINTED AT MAC PANEL Shown above are the members of the Cost Reduction committee appointed to serve at the Tape Plant. They are, left to right: B. N. Williams, Albert Yow, Bob Greene, Clarence Davis, chairman of the committee and Arlo Hoover. Recognizing that cost reduction can various members of the Tape Plant be accomplished only through constant committee at their first meeting in vigilance, the MAC Panel Division has eluded the following; B. N. Williams appointed COST REDUCTION committees suggested efforts to increase production in each plant. The purpose of the committees is to seek ways to reduce cost and waste of material, labor and expense items. This is to be accomplished by observa tion and studies of the committees working with the help and cooperation of all employees. Frank Stewart, man ager of MACNetic Tape, in making the appointment of the committee, empha sized that effectiveness of the committee can be measured by the dollars they show can be saved through their findings and recommendations. Regular bi-weekly meetings are held and reports of the committees submitted to the management group after the meeting. A report on the committee appointed to serve in the newly occupied Grimes Street plant will appear next issue. Suggestions and comments of the through upgrading quality. "Waste is our biggest cost factor and should be reduced, " said Bob Greene, "we must strive toward a more thorough uniformity of our products. " Albert Yow said, "We must train our operators how to perform their jobs better; they must be trained to give con tinuous attention to every detail of the operation of the machine. " Arlo Hoover stressed the need for operators to understand that a roll of tape must be completed without stop ping. This applies to every operation except testing. Bob Greene explained the necessity for proper grind and absence from contamination. Hoover added that all personnel must bear in mind thatevery piece of equipment must be immacul ately clean and spaces must be free from particles of dust and lint. - 4 -
