Are you a good bowler? Are you a not-so-good bowler? Would you like to learn how to bowl? If your answer to any of the above questions is “Yes” then see Anna McKinney in the Personnel Office. The Winter bowling season officialy opened last week and Anvil Brand employees have an unusual opportunity to pursue this enjoyable sport at half the price others pay. Anna said perhaps in the past some employees have failed to sign up for bowling because they felt only those who excell in the game participate. Not so, says Anna. Actually, the company would like to have beginners come out to learn the game. So, if you’ve never rolled ’em down the alley before, plan to learn how it’s done this season. Before you know it you may be answering the first ques tion in this story with a definite “Yes!” THE MESSAGE OF THE BUDDHA ?> Hate is a cruel word. If men hate you, regard it not; and you can turn the hate of men to love and mercy and good will, and mercy is as large as all the heavens. And there is good enough for all. With good destroy the bad; with generous deeds make avarice ashamed; with truth make straight the crooked lines that error draws, for error is but truth distorted, gone astray. And pain will follow him who speaks or acts with evil thoughts, as does the wheel the foot of him who draws the cart. He is a greater man who con quers self than he who kills a thousand men in war. He is a noble man who is him self what he believes that other men should be. Return to him who does you wrong your purest love, and he will cease from doing wrong; for love will purify the heart of him who is beloved as truly as it puri fies the heart of him who loves. If someone asks you to fold a sheet of paper in half thirty times, look out! If you fold it once it becomes twice as thick; at the second fold it is four times as thick, at the third eight times, by the time you reach the 7th fold it is 128 times as thick; and if you could fold it thirty times, it would be over ten billion times as thick. You are getting old, brother, when the gleam in your eye is caused by the sun hitting your bifocals. Don’t drive like lightning—and crash like thunder. With so much work being done by machines we wonder why most everybody is tired. It’s hardly worth while to think unless you expect to act. NEW BELT LOOP MACHINE — Agatha McDonald is shown operating the new belt loop machine which the engineering department says is resulting in a great sav ing of material. New Machine Utilizes Scraps To Make! Belt Loops A new machine which is utilizing scraus of material for belt loops for Anvil Brand garments, is resulting in definite savings in material, according to the engineering department. Known as a “belt loop ma chine,” this machine allows scraps of materials to be used which previously were not utilized to their fullest extent. This machine cuts the material the right size for folding, then sews the loops and cuts them into the desired length. The engineering department said that by utilizing these sur plus scraps, great savings in cloth is realized. A beach is a place where the sun tans a lot of young ladies who should have been tanned at home. Fred Feers allows as how Willy Arbuthnot married old man Jenk’s daughter because her un cle left her a million dollars. Ti Tollivar says it ain’t no such thing, he would a’ married her no matter who’d left it to her.
