rhursday, April 28, 1983 —News briefs— SAM The Elon College Chapter of The Society for the Advancement of Management will hold its annual banquet in Second Floor McEwen tonight at 6:30 p.m. Cost for non-members will be $4.50, and those who wish to attend should contact Dr. Weavil in Alamance 211 or by extension 236. Say “Cheeae” Old-fashioned photographs will be taken today from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the lobby of the Student Center. Costumes will be available for individual and group notes. This event is sponsored by the SUB Special Events Committee. Galloping Goonnets The Civinettes plan to publish a cookbook next year. Students, parents, faculty members and staff are encourag ed to submit their favorite recipes for publication. Entries should be taken to rooms 101 or 104, Maynard Dorm. Phi Alpha Tbeta Regional Meeting Eton’s Psi Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta international honor society in history hosted the annual regional meeting of N.C. chapters April 16. Papers were read by students from UNC-Asheville, East Carolina University, North Carolina A and T State University, Appalachian State University, Pfeiffer College, Salem College. Two Hon Students also presented papers: Kevin McCauley, “Edmund Spenser and Elimbethan Irish Policy,” and Phoebe Lindley, “The EltonThesis and its Critics.’’Lindley was awarded a prize for having the best paper in her session. Mexko CItjr Trip Students are reminded that the deadline for enrolling in Eton’s four week summer school program in Mexico City is April 29. The cost of the program is $1,300 and carries six semester hours credit. To enroll, students must make a SlOO deposit by A{»il 29. Checks should be made out to Elon CoU^ and delivered to Dr. E.J. Coaccrt Band to Perfom The Elon College Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Jack White, will have their annual Spring Concert May 5 in Whitley Auditorium at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. No admission will be charged. Oakf Area Barfocqne An Oaks Area barbecue will be held today from 4-6 p.m. at the Oaks. This is a free barbeque, open for Oaks Area residents only.
