Fall Convocation with Atlanta Mayor
Young. The entire college community
will pause from its regular Tuesday
schedule to gather for the fall convocation
with keynote speaker Mayor Andrew Young.
The topic of his address will be "Education
for Public Service." There will be short
talks by students John Barnhill and Katie
Mafko on their community service
experiences. Mayor Young is a United Church
of Christ minister who, at age 57, has served as
a civil rights leader, congressman, U.S. Ambassador
and is now mayor of one of the fastest-growing
cities in the United States.

Phil Woods Quintet
In 1988 Phil Woods received the highest number
of votes for best alto sazophone player in Down Beat
magazine's annual International Critics poll. His
quintet was voted the best acoustic jazz group by the
sam poll. Come hear their arrangement of be-bop and
swing-era standards.
