Don't miss a culturally unique experience! Christian organizations celebrate hope Keri-Ann Thomas The Pendulum Elon's Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship are uniting this week to help students deal with different issues in their lives and to spread the word about Christianity. Both FCA and Intervarsity are campus organizations that promote Christian fellowship at Elon. Senior Anthony Akers, basketball player and president of FCA, says his organization is geared mostly toward the athletes at Elon, whereas Intervsarsily is geared toward the common student. "Celebrate Hope" is the theme of the campus outreach program that will be held Wednesday in Whitley Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. "Our two organizations are coming together, with other students, to discuss the uncertainties in each others lives," Akers said. The "Celebrate Hope" program will begin with contemporary Christian music followed by students' individual testimonies and special music performed by students. Advisor to FCA, Drew Van Horn said that the program is intended "to show hope in the midst of a time of so much turmoil and defeat." "Representatives from FCA and Intervarsity will speak about what the Lord means to them and how to find hope through the salvation of Jesus and Christianity," Akers said. Other topics such as school and relationships will also be discussed in the meeting. "We hope to target the ordinary students not familiar with Christianity," Akers said.
