Alumni return for fun, memories and football Krista Naposki and Colby Pierce Special Projects Editors Elon football could not rise above Furman, but support for “The Order of the Phoenix" Homecoming was evident in activities held last week. Elon lost to Furman 24-13, but quarterback Wes Pope set a new record for Elon in passing yards in a single season. An alarming number of alumni registered for the weekend. In off-the-field competition, the Danieley Pirates won Homecoming week, followed by Isabella Cannon Leadership Program and the Phoenix Phanatics. In total, 19 teams competed. While about the same number of teams signed up as in years past, SGA President Michael Bumbry said that he saw more enthusiasm and participation in all the events. The “Harry Potter”-themed events included punt, pass and kick, quiz bowl, banner contest, costume contest, penny wars and skit night.
