When Elonthon conclud ed at 6 p.m. April 14. the Elonthon executive team announced they had raised a total of $452,964.18 — a total of $100,000 more than last year. But this isn’t the first time the fundraiser has broken records. In 2006, the Elon University Elonthon event broke six figures for the first time, raising more than $117,000 after shooting for a goal of $50,000, Kristen Laramie, a junior on the Elonthon execu tive committee at the time, dealt with more than nine months of logistical road bumps when organizing the event but in the end said all the time and effort that went into the event was worth it. “We broke six figures for *’™e,” Laramie said. That was really exciting tor us. Laramie said the high- ■ght of the event was that after the hours of dedication, Elonthon partici pants could walk away know ing there was $117.000 worth of sniiles from the children and their families the money would go toward.
