IN THE student" SENATE Appropriations xor various campus activities have been the main topld of business In the Student for the last month, A bill providing 373 for a second bus to the Catawba-Elon football game was passed, but the bus was not sent as a sufficient number of students did not sign up to ride on it, At a call meeting on Wednesday, November 6, a bill was passed by a vote of 14-7 to appropriate funds for the dance held on Saturday, November 9, The bill was taken out of committee due to the time limit involved. Another recently-passed regulation calls for fourty-four copies to be made of each bill which is hereafter presented in the Senate. It is thought tJiat if each Senator has a copy of a bill, understanding of pending legis lation will be clearer. Also, each Senator will thus be provided with a personal reference file. Bills which are to be presented in the near future include one calling for a change in parking regulations. Also, procedures for campus election^ ape being revised and work is being done on a bill to establish a productive Executive Committee that will aid the Officers of the Student Body. A bill to establish the CAMPUS CRIER as a permanent SGA publication is also being prepared. £I0N hatches LR In College Bool Elon will match wits with Lenoir Rhyne College on the academic playing field x^hen the first round of the NSSGA "College Bowl" is held on V/ednesday, December 3; in Hickory, N.C. Elon College will be host for a return match o^ Tuesday, Dec ember :9. Four students from each school will represent their colleges in the d|.visions of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, English, and Business, and tiie contestants will be chosen by the department heads of their particular divisions. Thus far, John Jones has beein elected to represent Elon from the Natural Sciences, ■ Questions for the contest have been prepared by professors from the member schools, Mr. Elder, of the Elon College History Department, has helped with the project. The "College Bowl" series is open to all students of the member schools and all are urged to attend. The Pall NSSGA Conference will be held at Guilford College on Sunday and Monday, November 17 and 18. Elon's delegation, headed by Ronn Hodklnson, includes. Gail Cambell, Freshman, Don King, Pr., Melvin Shreves, Jr., Marty Simpson, foph., and Carol Trageser, Sr. Bill Whittenton is president of the association. At the conclave, the ten member schools will present workshop, discus sions on different topics pertinent to small college campuses. Elon's workshop title is, "Cliques In Student Government". TALENT SHOW (continued) "The Eddie Harris Trio" playing "My Babe" and"Night in Tmnisia". Playing with the trio were Janet Lamm on the piano and CandyHopewellon the flute. The trio also played for the SGA which sponsored Ronn Hodklnson singing, "The Days of Wine and Roses". West and Virginia Dorms were represented by Joyce Bristow who sang "You'll Never Walk Alone." Also in the show was Becky Sharpe who did an interpretive dance for the Women's Athletic Association. Beta Chi Epsilon preRanted a song-nklt to "Side By Side" and the show was ended by the Che^- xut.x7 CliiD TThich presented a comedy act.
