''P For those of you -who witnessed the showing of "The Tall- Men" at our cam pus Sunday night movie on Nov, 20th, and experienced cuts In the film, let me assure you that our beloved admin istration had nothing'to do with the supposed censoring of some partsc I'm sure that the multitudes of you who were there will' agree that Cameron Mitchell, who bought Jane Rus sel a new wardrobe and started to wine and dine her, was cheated. As- you may laiow the screen went dead after Camer on Mitchell started pburring the cham pagne, Of course, this brought the usual boo's and cat-calls from our highly liioraled Chris'tian audience, ex cept for "the couples" who were too busilj'" engaged in other matters to no tice. an /.I’lingUlGr'n ..than"-an-'II "bomb ^ ’ • blast. This cut in the picture aro used strong feelings that "Big Brother the administration, had censored this sex-type scene. Taking it upon myself to find the source of this seemingly criminal supression of the truth, I conversed with Bob Gwalthey, alias "tri-pod", our very responsible pro jectionist.- Bob, placing the blame elsewhere and restoring my faith in. "Big Brother',' I mean our dear admin istration. The thanks of the Sunday night movie goers of Hon College go out at this 'time to the people who made these cuts possible: Pilms In corporated of Atlanta ,Georg la (no re flection on you, Ann). You Christian movie-goers out there should bow your heads in shame for even thinking of tli.a-’: 'i-Zie administration of Sion Colleg would sulait to the censorship of cam pus movies. I'm sure it would be 00- ; low the principles of our administra-;: tidn 'to even consider the idea of sup pressing real life in the bad, bad, world from.you, the impressionable students of Elon College. Credit goes to the'administration for^ the arrangement of classes on Sat- urd^ay. Homecoming. Shortening a class period by ten mindtes, and taking five .minutes from the break betvreen classes was. a stroke of sheer genius. I'm sur that the administration's idea of a "p.hort day" really helped those people who worked so hard on Homecoming for the administration and the students. Tn^y' succeeded anyvfay, despite the gif' of the administration's so-called "short day". ( "Interview" continued) » Mr. Sawyer told me that the student body is very fortunate to be able to witness the fine entertainment that will be presented to them this year by the Entertainment Committee. Perhaps one of the most outstanding events wilL take place on December 9 when The.Hunt- men will appear. Also, l^Ir. and Mrs. Sandy Moffett will give a, folk music presentation along with.the other mem bers of their group, The Migrants. On January 4, The Fabulous Five wiH play at a campus dance. The head executive, in speaking of the problem concerning the furniture in the union said, "I am well pleased xfith the response everyone has shown in this maxtero Please keep up the good workc" In reporting the prqgress of the various groups under the I .0-.S.C.'C., Mr. Savjyer said that the Elon Student State Legislature delegation, headed by Russ Phipps, is set up and waiting their turn at bat. The committee IS contributing an educational asset to Elon, according to the president. Also, Mr. Sawyer said that the NSSGA del egation, headed by Ronn Hodkinson, is now in the midst of its hardest work-- preparing for the coming convention . He extends his best to this group for a successful weekend, Mr. Sawyer said that sometime this month Chuck Jackson will be attending a planning session concerning Elon’s SGA having its own radio station. He stated that the advantages of such a projiect would serve^as a method for. improving communications and for en hancing school spirito The president reported to me that Mr. Hassell has stated that the paint ing of the partitions in the nevjly- paved parking lots is scheduled for around Thanksglvingo President Sawyer wishes to earnestly thank the studeijits for their interest and co-operation concerning this mat--ier. : ' In viewing the future, Mr. Sawyer ^told me that Dlans are being made for the establishment of a picnic area for the ptudents, faculty and adminis tration.'
