JUNIOR GIRLS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP Defeat Freshmen by a Score of 14-8 in Spirited Contest. On Tuesday afternoon, February 27, the girls collected in the Gym. to see the final of a series of class games which would determine to which class the championship in bas ket ball should go. This game was between the Jun iors, who had previously defeated the strong Senior team and the Freshmen, to whom the Sophomores had forfeited. The star of the game was Morris, who by her ingenious team work with Moton scored re peatedly for the Juniors. The Junior guards were too active for the Fresh men forwards. You may have heard a million things as funny as could be, but when you hear a Senior say the word hyperbole you'll laugh until you've split your bean and ripped the gout from off your spleen— (The rest of this still further in sults the dignity of the editor. Let us see a ray of light thru the dark and stormy night. Tho we see the battle clouds and the earth is clothed in. shrouds, yet we know Thy guiding hand will bring peace to any land, if we only do the things that to earth Thy kingdom. Help us then to trust the more—oh, give us peace from shore. Make this great contention cease, give us peace, oh, holy peace. THE GUILFORDIAN NEW >I(II)EL SUPPLIED TO THE MATH. I)EPARTJIEXT. Last Friday morning the class in Analytic Geometry was busily en gaged in deriving the equation of an ellipsoid. Prof. Brinton was just de ploring the fact that he had no mod el with which to illustrate when a loud cut, cut, cut, ta, caw-cut was heard just outside the window. A member of the class was quickly sent out to ascertain whether King Hall's feathered guardian was adver tising falsely. He returned with a fresh laid egg whose elliptical out lines exactly suited the purposes of the class. It was found that the hen was not sufficiently versed in. mathe matics to produce an ellipsoid per fectly symmetrical to all three axes. We are very sorry to know that Miss Ruth Coltrane has recently un dergone an operation for appendi citis. We trust that she may be able to be in school again in a few weeks.
