The Invisible University by Iris Velvin Entertainment Editor Imagine an institution of higher learning that has no campus, no fixed faculty or curriculum, and no full-time student body. This is not a fantasy born of mid-term exam week-such is the real-life situation of Greensboro's Funny University. The curriculum for Funny U. has ranged in the post from arts and-crafts offerings to courses on 0 John Grice, assistant pro fessor of administration of justice. Grice has taught in Guilford's justice program since 1974, and has earlier taught in the college's political science depart ment. 0 Barton Parks, associate pro fessor of administration of justice. Parks holds degrees from Rice Univeristy and the State University of New York at Buf falo. # Adele Wayman, assistant pro fessor of art. Wayman heads the Guilford art department, and has taught at Guilford since 1973. such diverse subjects as belly dancing and auto mechanics. Currently, there is not formal list of classes at all; Funny U. has recently gone to a policy of classes that are strictly student initiated. If you want to learn how to juggle, or play a banjo, or all about the politics of Lithouania, or almost anything, then find others of similar interest and Funny U. will try to find an in structor for you. Funny University is part of Applications It is time to apply for financial aid for the 1983-84 academic year. Applications were distributed in early December and additional forms are still available in the Financial Aid Office, the infor mation Desk, and the Student Services Office. Students plann ing to apply for financial assistance should do so no later than April Ist in order to meet Guilford's priority deadline of April 15th. They should also have their parents send the Financial Aid Office a copy of their 1982 Federal income tax form (Form 1040 or 1040 A). Due largely to reductions in Federal student aid programs and to indecision in Washington regarding program regulations, awards could not be sent to students until well into the sum mer each of the last two years. Most of that indecision has begun to be resolved, and we have a reasonable idea as to funding levels for next year. That, coupl ed with a concerted effort on Guilford's part to increase its financial commitment to finan cial aid, will enable us to begin making awards for next year by early March. It is important to note that funds are still quite limited. The April 15th priority deadline will be strictly enforced. If you expect downtown at 231 N.
