This friend prefers that his name be withheld for the present. This is the third building to be given to the college since the fire on January 18th. Work on the library building will not be begun at once, but efforts will be made to complete the first buildings planned. The library will follow im mediately. It is to be a beautiful stnicture with the capacity of 100,000 volumes, and room for other library needs. Around the Circle Rags make paper. Paper makes money. Money makes banks, Banks makes loans. On Wednesday evening, April 18th, the Carolina Playmakers, under the leadership of Professor Koch, pre sented in the Auditorium three one- act plays, the authors and characters of which were native North Caro linians. Agatha, the first play presented, was written by Jane Foy, of Chapel Hill. The scene is laid in the historic village of Hillsboro, and the time is fifty years ago. It portrays most charmingly the after-the-war-days of Ciinolines, sweeping curtsies, and brave reconstruction. Peggy, next on the program, is a tragedy of the drab lives of a North Carolina tenant-farm family, and an ineffectual revolt against conditions, 'xn s iJ-cy IS by iiarold Williamson, of Carthage, and its characters are taken from leal life. Aiamma, by Ernest Thompson, of Goldsboro, is a delightful copedy of contemporary manners. The Buxtons are newly rich,, and “Mamma” Buxton is delighted with the opportunity it gives her to move in high society. She has quite a time, however, with her disgusted husband and headstrong daughter, and makes many laughable breaks. In the end the Buxtons lose their wealth, the daughter marries a poor but promising young author, and uveryJiiiig is ba.^k to normal again. The Playmakers appeared on the Salem College campus last spring as a part of the commencement program, and Salem students were glad of the opportunity of seeing their produc tions again. The personnel of the Playmakers is as follows: George V. Denny—Business Mgr., Hoyt Boone—Asst. Bus. Mgr. N. C. Barefoot—Stage Manager. J. E. Hawkins—Asst. Stage Mgr.
