THE A L E MI T E SENIORS HOLD CANDLE SERVICE AT VESPERS SUNDAY NIGHT (CONTINUED FROM PAGE ONE) His shut up eyes would be-asleep And lie would look like our John, And he would be all crumpled too. And have a pinkish color on. I’d watch his breath go in and out. His little clothes would be all white. I’d slip my finger in his hand To feel how he could hold it tight. And she would smile and say, “Take care, ’ ’ The mother Mary, would, “Take care; ” And I would kiss his little hand And touch his hair. While Mary put the blankets back The gentle talk would soon begin. And when I’d tiptoe softly out I’d meet the wise men going in. Bebecca Hines, one of the few Senior -Music Majors, sang beauti fully, Olley Speaks’ “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. ’ ’ She was oc companied by Dean Vardell at the organ. As Dean Vardell played an inter lude. the Seniors distributed lighted beeswax candles to every person in the audience. These candles, to- gethej with the Christmas Stair above the platform made a soft glow, beau tifully sufficient for the rest of the service. Peoples’ faces look almost celestial when seen in such a light. Their everyday defects are hidden, and their eyes shine. The hymn “Morning Star,” was sung by the Seniors and the con gregation antiphonally. Marching up the, aisle with their lighted candles, the S^iors sang “Silent Night.” They arranged themselves on the steps on each side of a lobby, forming a glowing tableaux effect for the benefit of those leaving the auditorium.
