The Bailey Parent-Teacher Asso
ciation has had two well filled meet
ings since the beginning of the school
term. New officers have been elect
ed. Instruction and helpful infor
mation has been duly received at
each meeting. Prospects point to
wards a very successful year.
The first meeting being to organ
ize for the new year; the following
officers were elected;
President—Mrs. E. C. Griffin.
Vice Pres.—Mrs. J. W. Privette.
Secretary and Treasurer—Mrs.
Bennie Parmer.
James N. Grant made a very in
teresting talk on school work. After
the business was attended to, there
was a social hour which every one
seemed to enjoy.
The second meeting was held the
second Thursday night in October.
Mrs. Howard Parmer gave the scrip
ture reading, Miss Jay Williams read
a very interesting poem. Miss Min
nie Bell Pinch and Miss Bertha Ed-
gerton gave a piano duette. K. R.
Curtis, Wilson County Superintend
ent, gave a very instructive talk on,
'“The Work of The Parent Teacher
Association.”
A report was handed in by Mr.
Eatman that the Masonic organiza
tion if Bailey had given ten dollars
towards the purchase of books for
the library. The organization de
cided to give a Halloween carnival
Wednesday, October 31, for the pur
pose of raising money to better equip
the library. The association also
decided to make a house to house
canvas for the donation of books in
the homes. There being no other
business to come before the associa
tion, it adjourned to meet again the
second Thursday night in November.
Evei’y parent is asked to be present.

BE YOURSELF
What is the formula for a success
ful personality? There is none. Sit
down in the gallery of the United
States Senate room, and look down
on the men below. Here are nearly
a hundred Americans each of whom
has somehow managed to impress
his personality on the minds of the
state. What conclusions can come
from watching them? What are the
traits of appearance, manner, and
personality that bring political suc
cess? I dare any one to examine
those hundred specimens and draw
a solitary conclusion. Every type
of man is represented: fat, short
men, tall, thin men, men with splen
did heads of hair, baldheaded men;
men with smiling eyes and genial
m.anner. No two are alike, yet all
have arrived in senate.
The idea of this tirade is to show
that just because Senator Brown Is
a big, boisterous man, there is no
reason for Senator Smith to try to
be the same. Simply be yourself!
The fact that your boy-friend seems
to be a bit foppish is no excuse for
you to be the same. Be Yourself,
that’s all!
—Walter Robinson, Junior.
The classes in Bailey High School
have been prompt in organization
this year. A complete list of officers

lowing officers were elected:

The class then selected its motto:
‘‘Carpe Diem,” colors, rose and gold,
and flowers, roses.
