Seymour The year nineteen thirty-two was a fortunate year in many re spects. It is termed fortunate by historians as the.year Roose velt was elected, but fortunate too were Goldsiboro High athlet ics. That was the year, by the way, that G. F. Seymour made his entrance into Wayne County. Despite a bad knee that has managed to give him trouble al ways during football season, G. F. has nevertheless shown what he is capable of doing. He re ported for football practice this season midway the schedule, aft er wrangling the “o.k.” of the “Doc”, and without previous var sity experience went on to win a letter on the best grid squad Goldsboro has put on the field in quite some time. This should give you some idea of the athletic abilities of G. F. Taking full advantage of his healed knee he is now run ning on the first squad of Earth quake cagers, and plans to try his hand on the diamond come spring. George is adapted to all sports and besides football, basketball and baseball is a re markably fine swimmer and is possessor of a runner-up trophy in the tennis tournament spon sored last summer by the Golds boro Tennis Association. Even in the summer his chief interest is athletics, and last va cation he worked with the Wayne County Recreation Coun cil in connection with its summer a I Have a Coke S totiiio UNOii «urnoiiir ot im oc«.coi* contAut •• BARNES-HARRELL-RAWLINGS COMPANY Members of the 1949-1950 Junior basketball- Billy Gibson, Braston Keen, arid William Ginn, squad are: (left to right) front row: Bud Ellis, Thir drow: Manager Happy Smith, Bobby Sasser, Charlie Norwood, Johnny Carr, and Jay Max- Dick Howard, Lloyd Davis and Coach Chick well. The Goldsboro Midget Maroons captured the Midget conference title twice during years he was a member of the squad. In addition to his accomplish ments in the field of athletics, George is class historian, a mem ber of the student council, and is currently undergoing his Varsity Club initiation. I G.
