It is the hope of all RM students that the visitors enjoy their stay in Rocky Mount and will want to return again soon. We, as columnists, hope they will enjoy our papper. This issue is mixed up and parts of It are up-Fide down, hut it is well to re member the Date!!! Now let’s “fool around” and see just what the students are doing. Those trips to New York have been fun for all involved. In addi tion to the journalists who went for the CSPA Convention, a small group of senior girls decided they wanted to see the big city too. So, on March 24, Betty Ivey, Mollie Spruill, Mary Proctor, Patsy Mc Auley, Vivian Williams, Elizabeth Thompson, Sis Livengood, Bar bara Brown, and Miss Winkie i Harris went up to view the sights and attend the latest shows. Jimmy Selby went to Durham March 19 to compete in the finals of the Angier B. Duke Scholarship. Although he said the tests were hard; we know he did well. After the production of “The Enchanted Cottage’, March 5, the Edsonians had a party at which evei-yone contributed food, so there was plenty to eat. During the informal party the cast and production crew presented Miss Harris with a beautiful gift. Would you like to know about college entrance exams? Baxter Savage, L. M. Barnes, Vivian Wil liams, Elizabeth Thompson, and Stanley Still can tell you they aren’t easy! They went to Hugh Morrison high school in Raleigh, March 13, to take the tests. At the same time Gordon Wilkinson and Penn Strandberg missed a day of fun in New York because they also CAROLINA SCHOOL OF COMMERCE Specialists In Business Training Licensed By State Of N. C. 121 N. Main St. Phone 6-7095 were taking similar exams there, I know every one has heard about how the subway just “dis appeared” before Julian Aldridge’s eyes in New York. Julian is now going to take over and tell about some of those other hilarious things that happened while the journalists were in the big city. Subways, roller coasters, trains, and elevators really drew out some hidden traits in Rocky Mount stu dents. Perm Strandberg and Mrs. Young have weak stomachs! You should have seen the looks on their faces and heard the yells when they took a ride on the roll er coaster. Yes, it was only Cinerama, but think what would have happened had it been the real thing! I wonder what it is Gordon Wil kinson sees in train floors? One of them sure made a “hit” with her on the trip up! Betty Sue Cash and Lucinda Oliver displayed a liking for rid ing elevators. Everytlme I turned around the girls were either get ting: off or on the elevator in the hotel lobby. One night I overheard Lu telling Betty Sue that she rode all the way to the eighteenth floor with him and all alone! That’s the first time I knew elevators had sex! While in New York I took a ride on the subway with Mary Lee Fountain and Joy Anne Hayes, which turned out to be a rather unfortunate one. When we reached our destination, sincc 1 am a gentleman, I was the first to jump off the train. Turning around I saw the “sub” slowly nulling away from the station and Mary Lee and Joy were still on it! In the excitement that follow ed I faintly heard Mary Lee yell ing frantically through the win dow, “Jujian, please don’t leave me.” I wish someone dbuld tell me what she expected me to do?
