WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, 1973 THE GRYPHON PAGE 5 RMSH Teachers Attend Convention Mrs. Tweedy and Mrs. Hut chison attended a North Caro lina Personnel atid Guidance Association Convention in Gre ensboro on March 4-6. Church St. Rocky AAt., N. C. entitled “Putting It Altogethier” consisted of workshop sessions and a banquet. The convention began with registration at the Hilton Inn and several speakers on Sunday. Monday, the coun selors attended workshops con cerning various new education al concepts. Mrs. Tweedy at tended a workshop on “Life Ca reer Development Concepts” which was headed by Dr. Nor man Gysbers, President of the National Vocational Guidance Association. Mr. Hutchison at tended aworkshop on “Changing Styles of Living and Learn ing” headed by Dr. James Mik- kelson and Dr. Joseph A. Gas ton. Following the workshop there was a banquet for the counse lors and also for the presenta tion of special guests and the Ella Stephens Barrett Award. The convention was conclud ed at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday. Coach Phil Harris, who is well known and liked throughout the student body, will be leaving RMSH on March 30, Coach Harris will be leaving his teaching post to accept a job at Hardee’s in Wilmington, His reason for leaving is that he felt his new job offered a better financial opportunity. He majored in health and physical education and mlnor- ed in history. Before coming to RMSH he taught for two years at Jef ferson High In Roanoke, Vir ginia and for one year at New Bern High School. Here at RMSH coach Harris taught world cultures. Also, he is well known for the dedi cation he put into his work as a football and wrestling coach. Coach Harris and his wife, Sandra, will be moving their family; Philip, six years old, Heather, four years old, and Larry, three years old, to Wil mington at the first of next month. RMSH would like to take this opportunity to thank Coach Har ris for all the happiness he has brought to the school; for his cheerful face has brought many a smile to his students’ faces. Also, RMSH students want Coa ch Harris to know that he will never be forgotten and that they wish him all the luck in the world with his new job. Earlier this month the de partment received awards at the district drama fest held at Campbell College, During this fest the department won a dis trict award and Ken Batchelor was especially honored to have won an acting award for his per formance. The trip to Cam]>> bell College was the first step in the elimination for the state competition. The RegiMial Drama Festi val was held at Thompson Tbea- tre on the campus of North Carolina State University at Raleigh on Saturday, March 10. Once again the department was given honors. “Infancy” is a play written by Thorton Wilder, The cast is composed of Amy Maxwell, Becky Manning, Zack Perkin son, Kim Smith, and Ken Bat chelor, The techlcal crew con sists of J. B. Warren as stage manager, Susan Thompson and Pam Barringer on properties, and Bruce Jeans as general crew technician in charge of transportation, Tony Brab ham, Tony Stone, Robert Ward and Deborah Harris are assis tants.
