PAGES THE GRYPHON Standards For Good Officers In Order To Serve Effectively de;cember 20. 1973 When the SRA abolished the nominating committe, it did not mean to abolish all standards of conduct for our officers. The, screening was meant to be done by students as they vote rather than by a nominating committee. Some students and teachers feel that some students don’t know how to choose a good officer. Our delegates to the State Con vention of Student Councils met so many unique and in teresting foreign students that, upon their return to RMSH they expressed their desire for RMSH to have a foreign exchange student. The SRA is working on the project and hopes to have a student for the next school year. Working through the American Field Service Program (AFS), it will cost about $1,000. to bring a foreign student t() RMSH and about $600. to send a RMSH student abroad the following summer. The AFS program is run almost entirely by a number of unpaid volunteers. These volunteers assist AFS in helping the students exchange ideas and cultures. Currently in the United States there are approximately 2,682 AFS exchange students. RMSH used to have this foreign exchange program. The pictures outside the main office show the past exchange students. With student, ad ministration, and community cooperation possibly the program can be revived. fum ' 4T "No, you can’t take the dog team. Well, you can, by donating trading stamps of any kind to the D. E. Club which is participating the state-wide project in order to buy the Siberian tiger for the N. C. Zoological Park in Asheboro to open in 1975. Hopefully, each club will turn in at least one book per member, but w'ith your help our D. E. Club can have from two to three books per member and will have an excellent chance of capturing the trophy awarded to the first place club. The Club is in the process of starting a community wide campaign with radio an nouncements, newspaper articles, and etc. There will also be competition between the three D. E. classes, and many of the schools inthe city have been asked to help with the project. There will be booths placed outside of Sears, K- Mart and both Wooten’s Supermarkets. Students are asked to register at White’s Supermarket for the free stamps to be given away and if won to donate them to the D. E. project. Let’s all take part in this and help our Club remain the Number I Club. If you have already started collecting stamps, you may turn them in at Room 221. your (Christmas (§tore I Efflya WISHING ALL OF YOU A Meriy Christmas AND A Happy New Year WARDS lappytown ^all
