Friday, October 23, 1953 THE FULL MOON Page 5 Newspapers Praise Webb's Sturdy Single Wing Eleven A number of newspapers have made comments on the AHS football team and their fine playing thus far this season. Among the complimentary ar ticles that have appeared are: Charlotte Observer “A vicious pace is being set by Albemarle. Unless there’s a slip along the way, and from all appearances there shouldn’t be, one of North Carolina’s top win ners come the end of the season in November will be Albemarle’s solid Bulldogs. “ ‘The boys are given a foot ball when they’re old enough to Walk,’ said an ardent Albemarle man, ‘and you can bank on one thing for certain; we’ll have the best string in the conference’.” Greensboro Daily News “Coach Toby Webb, a portly balding believer in the rock-’em- sock-’em single wing style of play, is the man behind the scenes in this latest powerhouse of the South Piedmont confer ence. “Thus, the small in number but big potential squad from Albemarle steams along the route to Webb’s first title. Any one who thinks they won’t make it had better present some good arguments—particularly on the field where all the fiijial deci sions are made,” These quotes are just a few of the praises which the well- deserved team has earned. We are all looking forward to the team’s starting down this last steep grade, full steam ahead.
