Page 6 THE FULL MOON Friday, October 23, 1953 National Bible Week Being Observed At High School 'National Bible Week was ob served in the high school this week under the auspices of the newly organized Bible club. Prominent Albemarle ministers and citizens spoke to the student body each morning thirty min utes prior to school on the. gen eral theme “The Bible in the Christian Life.” Rev. John Jor dan of the First Street Methodist church spoke on “Chrsitian Wit ness”; Mr. Frank Patterson- from the First Lutheran church spoke on “Christian Citizenship”; Rev. Boyce Brooks of the First Baptist church spoke on “Christian Fel lowship”; and Attorney Warren Coble spoke on “The Bible In the Business World.” In addition to these addresses the following stu dents spoke briefly on “What the Bible Means to Me”: Jo Ellen Brooks, Gene Burris, Bettie Jean Burris, and Margaret Brunson. Special music was rendered and group singing was directed by Susie Swaringen with Amorelle Tucker at the piano. Displayed in the lobby was the open Bible, designating the Bible verse used in the address for that particular morning. Be hind the Bible on the table, cov ered with a white cloth, was a gold cross, a candle, and flowers. To further emphasize Bible Week, numerous posters and pictures were utilized throughout the lobby. Miss Abrahamsen is sponsor of the club and Jimmy Griffin is the club president. Hold That Pose! “Chin up—hold still now— that’s good! ” It was the “picture - taking man” at A.H.S. again, struggling, joking, posing the stu dents for the 1954 Crossroads. This year Jim Small was selected to represent the Delmar Studios in Albemarle. On hand to see that everything went according to schedule, or at least reasonably so, were Larry Tucker, annual photograph er, Mrs. Carter, annual advisor, and Wayne Morris, member of the photography staff. Around the popular mirror you found study hall girls busy with make-up. Assisting throughout the day were Peggy Davis, Jean ette Howard, Georgia Beaver, Sue Swaringen, and Louise Cooper. The idea is not to kill time, but to make time live; not to serve time, but to make time serve you. Finest Furniture — at — Best Prices Maxwell Bros. Phone 54 L. C. LAST SEEN WEARING By JO and BOB Has anyone noticed all the “lil” fur collars being worn by oodles of gals this fall? Barbara Copley has a cute tie-on that really makes those sweaters look sharp! As fall came rushing in, it brought a bevy of attractive new colors to the fashion-conscious students. Red, brown, olive green, mauve, and oxford grey seem to be the colors highlighting the season. In the skirt line, tweeds and a nubby fabric, closely resem bling poodle, are taking the show. The red skirt worn by Dottie Walker caused many envious stares from, all the gals and a good many whistles from mem bers of the opposite sex!! Linda Moose, Sally Crook, Mar garet Brunson, and Pat Atkins have been seen sporting some mighty pretty blouses which seem to be knocking sweaters out of the picture. Females seem to go for dad’s shirts in plaid, stripes and figures. By the way, have “yawl” got a glimpse of that gorgeous red sweater of Wayne Palmer’s? We dedicate this little verse That cannot last an age To the great and noble purpose Of filling up this page. Lydia Hall Is President F.T.A.
