Hatley, exhibited some of its best projects at the Stanly Coun ty Fair. One of the ear-and-eye-catch- ing features of this exhibit was the high voltage condenser which was made by Wayne Mor ris in last year’s physics class. Another outstanding feature was the five tube superhetero-' dyne radio which was exhibited by Victor Dry. Dwayne Lowder’s House of Fire Hazards was also on dis play. This project won first prize at Duke university last year. The general science classes also exhibited an array of post ers and simple machines. Some of the people who help- LEFLER Furniture Co. A letter was received by Mr. Hatley, band director, of the oc casion and he brought it up be fore the members of the band to be voted on. The members de cided that they had rather go to this game than the others that the band had been asked to. The band will leave early on the Saturday of the game and spend the whole day at Duke. They will practice the show in the morning with the rest of the bands and will attend the football game that after noon. After the game the band will return to Albemarle. Members Honored Three members of the Albe marle high school band were ac cepted into the Modern Music Masters Society at a recent chap el program. Those members who were ac cepted were Jimmy Brown, Mir iam Davis and Sue Whitley. All these members have been in the band from six to eight years. All are first chair members and have done outstanding work in the band. The following officers were elected: Opal Eudy, vice-pres ident; Amorelle Tucker, secre tary; Phyllis Hartsell, treasurer. Representatives to the council are, seniors: Jimmy Griffin, Kay Snuggs, Doris Hinson, John Ellington, Douglas Harper, Jim my Pennington, Jimmy Millican, Lanny Ellis; juniors: Opal Eudy, Phyllis Greer, Amorelle Tucker, Elaine Mills, Johnnie Williamsy Dorothy Ellis, Ann Smith, Skip per Gantt; sophomores: Phyllis Hartsell, Joyce Turner, Jimmy Almond, Elizabeth Medlin, Jean Furr, Dot Starr, Ruth Morris, Johnsie Russell, Doris* Smith; freshmen: Janice Westerlund, Clara Bost, Jo Ellen Brooks, Rona Jane Mauldin, Ned Carpenter, Jeanette Hinson, Carolyn Efird, Gareth Pendergraft. FHA To Entertain Council Group Members of the Future Home makers of America have been busy planning a buffet supper for the North Carolina Student Council Congress to be held here. Several committees were ap pointed to make plans for the following projects: decorating the First Baptist church on Mon day, making and serving sand wiches Sunday night in the lounge, and decorating the YMCA for the banquet to be held Monday night.
