All during high school you could see Wheaties running across the football field helping the players or the coaches. Yes, Johnny has been a very faithful football man ager for four years. He has al so done as good a job as basket ball manager, or what would the basketball and baseball teams have done if they hadn’t had him as scorekeeper? It always seems as though Wheaties is everywhere helping. Johnny is also a faithful mem ber of the Booster’s Club, Hi-Y Club, and Monogram Club. This year he helps on the Full Moon by being on the Editorial and Sports staff. Last year Johnny was voted in as vice president of the junior class, in which role he did a won derful job. He was also on the junior-senior prom committee and entertainment committee for the senior banquet. He has held many homeroom offices and has been a Student Council representative. It looks as though Johnny is al ways busy, but not too busy to keep his grades high enough to be tapped into the National Honor Society and be selected as Stu dent Rotarian. Those selling annuals were Gerald Johnson, Marvin Morton, Celia Griffin, Patricia Thompson, Yvonne Hathcock, and Mickey Harwood. During her .freshman year Peg gy was chosen president of the Freshman Tri-Hi-Y, and this year she is secretary of that group. Be ing winner of the World Peace Essay shows Peggy’s ability in writing and the reason why she is an active member of the Cre ative Writing Club. Another one of her many interests is dramatics, and this year she is president of the Black Masque. Peggy has been a majorette for three years and this year is chief. Last year she became a member of the Modern Music Masters, of which she is vice-president. Peggy did a wonderful job working on the prom and also an excellent job in the junior play. Being chosen a marshal shows that she still does a good job of her school work despite these many activities. In the afternoon you may find Peggy in the annual room work ing hard at the job of Literary shows that you can’t judge a per son by his size. Picking food, broiled chicken and blueberry pie are his favor ites. Johnny’s future seems to be a bright one because picking Duke or Wake Forest as the college of his choice he will certainly be a success in any field he works in. Marriage Plans Are Announced Miss Barbara Lowder will be joined in marriage to Charles B. Whitley at Henry Pfeiffer Chapel tomorrow afternoon at 4:30. Miss Lowder is the girls’ basket ball coach at Albemarle High School, and Mr. Whitley teaches the eighth grade at Central Ele mentary School. Two other teachers from Albe marle High will help with this event. Mrs. Jake Carter is in charge of directing the wedding, and Mr. Paul Fry is organist. After a week’s honeymoon, the couple will return to Avondale Avenue, where they will make their home. Senior Tri-Hi-Y Chooses Project The Senior Tri-Hi-Y Club has chosen as their project this year helping send a child in Jericho to school for a period of one year. To raise money for this project they are sponsoring a “Twerp Dance,” December 16, which will be held at the Y.M.C.A. Many children in Jericho might have never had a chance to attend school . without the help of the Tri-Hi-Y, Hi-Y Clubs and other organizations from all over the world. Editor or down in the gymnasium helping the girls’ basketball team, of which she is jnanager. All these and more explain why she was tapped into the Honor Society this fall. School activities are not the on ly phase of this busy girl’s life. Peggy takes an active part in church work and is also Worthy Advisor of the Albemarle Rain bow Assembly. A piece of pizza pie and a cup of hot coffee would suit her just fine. Her favorite pastimes, be sides watching a movie with James Dean, would be horseback riding and teaching majorette lessons. Next year she plans to enter Woman’s College, where she will study psychology. We think she will succeed, don’t you?
