Page 8 THE FULL MOON May 29, 1957 Annual Heads Announce Crossroads Staff Members The annual staff for 1957-58 has*^ been announced by Pat Stames, editor; Kay Swindell, business manager; and Mrs. Carter, facul ty advisor. Cary McSwain and Ronnie Milli- can have been selected as assist ant editor and assistant business manager respectively. Ther6 are twelve members on the business staff: Martha Setzler, James Norton, Carolyn Nichols, Reggie Crowell, Nancy Swaringen, James Johnson, Yvonne Davis, Roy Wilhoit, Carol Milton, Rich ard Peck, Gail Morris, and Wade McSwain. Working as literary editor is Sue Winn. The staff consists of Martha Huckabee, Libbie Hatley, Peggie Lisk, Pat Smith, Tommy Murrell, Peggy Smith, Joyce Bur ris, Molly Holbrook, Evelyn Ui^- derw'ood, Rita Morris, and Gra ham Harwood. Becky Coble will be photo graphy editor and Stanley Law- hon, Larry Mullis, Elaine David son, Saundra Burleson, Dwight Morgan, Gale Whitfield, and Kitty Almond will be helping her. The new art editor is Sammie Holshouser. His staff is Diane Watkins, Betty Holt, Kathryn Morton, Barbara Hathcock, Judy Efird, Marney Lowder, Garnald Efird, and Kay Crowell. A newcomer, Barbara Hoey, has l^een chosen to head the typing staff. This staff will consist of Janice Rogers, Kaye Almond, Judy Stoker, Glenda Keever, and Yvonne Chandler. H. Morrow’s cabin at River Haven. The party was well attended by the National Honor Society mem bers and their dates. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cashwell and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Westerlund were chape rones for the party. The group was served hamburgers, cold drinks, potato chips, and home made cookies. The rest of the evening was spent dancing and talking informally. Attending the party were Jo Ellen Brooks, Vicki Cranford, Linda Moose, Peggy Smith and Robert L. Jewel Bunting, Sue Burris, Hilda Campbell, Sylvia Davis, Phyllis Harwood, Loretta Holt, Sylvia Jane Mauldin, Libby Mc Leod, Ann Presson, Jackie Rich ardson, Joyce Smith, and Peggy Troutman received ready practice in their business course, while two other students, Myrna Mills and Zelia Leonard, who are not busi ness students, assisted during cer tain periods. Sylvia Jane Mauldin was re sponsible for counting and check ing cafeteria money every day and making receipts for it. Sylvia Davis worked every day during fourth period and did any typing that was necessary for Mr. Cash- well as well as filing papers and calling students to the office. Hilda Campbell worked with some other girls during first period, when they had to make up the absentee list and telephone some of the homes. Mrs. Westerlund served as faculty advisor and worked with these girls to keep the office in working order. 30. Included in this booklet are a copy of the Bible Club’s Constitu tion, the names of thpse students who served as president of the club, a yearly financial report from 1953-1957, and a summary of each year’s activities. Several highlights of 1956-1957 have been the fall stat^ Bible Club Retreat at which Pat 'Starnes was elected State Vice-President; the district rally in Kannapolis; the Bible Club Thanksgiving program presented to the student ^dy; the Initiation Party on January 13; and the spring Retreat. The Bible Club History is made complete by an expression of gratitude, to Miss Jean Abraham- sen for her guidance and support throughout her five years of teaching at A. H. S. She will not be here next year. Bunting Accepted At Dental School Jewell Bunting is one of twenty girls from the entire state who has been^ accepted at the Univer sity of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill for twelve weeks’ training this summer. This program is under the au spices of the U. €. Department of Public Health. She was given the college en trance test and was also inter viewed by a panel of doctors and women of the school. She will leave June 6, and will live in the Nurses Dormitory while in training. Jewell will be an employee of the U. S. Department of Public Health, and if her work is satic- factory she will be allowed to continue her training for another year. She will receive a salary, tuition and her books while in training.
