Weathersbee
Predicts
Guest speaker at the last
meeting of FTA, May 15, was Mr.
Stan Weathersbee, principal of
East Albemarle Elementary
School. He discussed the
possibility of a new FTA program
to begin in the 1972-73 school
year.
This new program will be a one
hour course. A member will be
able to serve as a teacher’s aide
for the school year at another
school, such as Junior High or an
elementary school. If a member
chooses to participate in the
program, he will receive credit
for doing so.
At this time it is thought that
only seniors will be able to
participate in this new program,
but it is hoped that juniors might
be able to participate, too.
Cindy Ross, valedictorian, and Susan Andrew, salutatorian, have
earned with hard work a rest in the shade.
It's Time To Go
The “Letta-Sweata” man will
be back in Albemarle to speak to
seniors and their guests at
graduation ceremonies, Monday,
May 29.
Mr. Albert Long, Jr., a
member of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, who spoke to
Albemarle Senior High Students,
October 29, 1971, impressed the
Class of ’72 so much that the
Senior Council requested that he
be the graduation speaker.
At 8:00 p.m., David Adams,
Chief Marshal, will lead the
seniors and speakers across the
field of the Albemarle Junior
High stadium to begin graduation
ceremonies.
Other marshals, John Baugh,
Cathy Cheatham, June Fisher,
Patti Hairyes, Myron
Precincts Represented
Precinct representatives were
elected Thursday, April 27,

The basic approaches of the
students to the problems will be
through independent study, in

outside consultants, audio-visual
materials, and self evaluation.
Only one student was selected
from each county to attend the
summer school.
All expenses will be paid by the
Department of Public Instruction
in cooperation with the Z. Smith
Reynolds Foundation.
Harrington, Nona Pease, and
Kim Woodruff will seat the
seniors and other invited guests
and give out programs for the
ceremonies.
After the seniors and the
audience sing the hymn, “God of
our Fathers,” the reverend W. B.
