This is particularly true because of the fact that our iiredecessnrs hav(- raised tho stantlards of the |»)silion f.o such a lieiglit fliat it sei'ius inipossilih; for us heginners to reach it, of probable disappointments, set out on our voyage full of happy antici pations of fulfilling our ambition. Members of the incoming staff’, as editor, may I halt a moment just hero to dedicate a bit of space to you, not “in memory of by-gone deeds of kindness,” but rather “in anticipation of future acts of assist ance.” Upon your shoulders lies the responsibility of making our term as editors of The Twin a success, Be over mindful of the fact that op portunity has her twin—responsibil ity. I am depending on you. According to psychologists there are three principal methods of giv ing expression to one’s thoughts: writing, speaking and drawing. Tuk Twkj upholds the theory that Mere dith students as a whole cun ex press their ideas more easily in writ ing. And thus, in this our first issue, we are making a plea for coapcra- lioih. If you have a thought, write it. Don’t be selfish—share it with your schoolmates. Everything must have a goal, and that which the staff' has set for Ti[e Twkj is to make it a Real Medium of l‘Jxpre, ssioii for the student Body. Only by succeed ing in this aim can oiu' paper be made an ideal college newspaper. Students, The Twiq is anxious to have your opinions that the other members of our “college family” nuiy share them. Faculty members, you are equally us much a part of our life here, and this paper is equally as eager to publish your gen- timents. Any cooperation which you might render us would be amply nppreciiited. Staff, students, facul ty, all, let’s cooperate in making our paper tlie best college publication in the State. Feeling that our alumna! keep us sadly lacking in information con- cernijig their activities, the Associate Editor of the new staff will serve as Alumna Editor for The Twig next year. We are hoping that through her Tuk Twio may serve as a link between the present stiident body und former Meredith girls. The increasing interest in athletics upon our campus has also necessi tated a Sport Editor. Danie Belle Eaton, Assoeinte Business Manager, is responsible for tho Sports Column, whicii we hope will appear each week. Reporters for this issue; Musette Kitcliln, Alma Webb, Danie Belle Eaton, Noniie Ratley, Margaret Craig. Xancy Woocla, Marguerite Mason, Macialine Moore.
