A. meeting as was planned. A comparatively large number of Meredith students attended the Mem orial Service in honor of Dr. T. W. O’Kelly. which was held at First Bap tist Church on Sunday Evening. Dr. O'Kelly was the pastor of a great unnv ber of our students, and all were glad to attend a service in memory of one so greatly beloved. Mis.ses Geneva Denthail and Blanche Stokes, graduate.s from Meredith, spent Siinrtay with friends here, Miss Emily Cheek. ’27 passed through Raleigh Sunday enroute to Columbia University, where she will take work lending to an M.A. degree. iMr. H. Adylette, Editor at State College, will meet with the Editors of tho Meredith Stud ent Publications on Friday. September 30, in a conference concerning the N. C. C.‘ Press Association, which is to meet with State and Meredith some time in October. The Philaret.ian and Astrotekton Literary Societies will give an lutev soceity reception in honor of the new Kiris on Saturday evening at eight- thirty. This is an annual event, and is always thoroughly enjoyed. Both now and old girls are looking forward lo it with much pleasure. Miss Ruth Llverman of Norfolk, for mer graduate of Meredith, offered a year's scholarship to Meredit to tho Freshman of last year who should make Ihe highest average. Tltis scholar ship' is handled through the Honor Society, and is given for the purpose of increasing interest in that society. The scholarship last year was won by Marguerite Mason, of Greensboro. Miss Liverman is offering a scholarship under similar circnnistances to the present Freshman Class.
