Meredith College May 9, 1933 Dear Alumnae: Commencement Greetings! A Hearty Welcome! Lest you’ve overlooked the dates, let me repeat they are May 27- 29. I cannot say our program will follow the time-honored order from Society Night on Saturday to the presentation of diplomas on Tuesday. For that will not be the case. Alumnae Day Is Saturday, May 27, and gradu ation day Monday, May 29. There are other changes too which you will notice in the entire outline of com mencement activities given elsewhere in this issue. A word about bur annual business meeting: It will begin promptly at 10 o’clock Saturday morning and close before 1 o’clock. And Maude Davis Bunn will preside in her delightful and experienced way. There will be several treats in store for you, not the least of them Bessie Lane’s address. She is one of Raleigh's prominent practicing physicians. And now a word about the annual luncheon: This is our good-tlme oc casion which we are not going to spoil by having too long. Lila Keith Smith of Greensboro has graciously consented to be our toastmistress. And those of you who are acquainted with her, know she has a way of her own, which bespeaks success for any thing she undertakes. Laura Weather- spoon Harrill and her committee have arranged, for this luncheon to be at 1 o’clock at the Woman’s Club at a cost of 50c a plate. Mrs. Lily M. Mebane of Spray, representative to the 1933 General Assembly will be otr special guest and speaker. Mrs. Mebane Is not a stranger to Meredith girls. You may remember that during the 1931 session of legislature she talked, costumed in her presentation gown to the Court of St. James, at one of Miss Ida's famous "Art Even ings.” Mrs. Bunn will tell you more of the plans in her’ letter which you'll receive almost simultaneously with this. But let me ask you to register in the Rotunda — Alumnae Headquarters — the minute you arrive. Eleanor Lay field, ’32, and other members of the Hospitality Committee will be there to welcome you and see that your needs are attended to properly. And, now, you won't forget the tra ditional bringing of all the bed linen and towels you'll need during Com mencement along with all the good cheer you can muster. Let me know when to expect you. Cordially and enthusiastically yours, Mae Grimmer, Alumnae Secretary. Reunion Classes We extend a special welcome to commencement to the two generations —’06-’07-'08-’09—'25-'26-'27-’28, and the classes ' of ’23 and . '31. Rumor has spread that the 23's are going to have a reunion supper at Lillian Horton Ammons on Sunday evening, and the 31’s are planning a class meeting sometime during commencement. Doubtless other classes will have meetings also.
