May 23, 1947 THE TWIG SPECIAL SECTION Page Three Martha Hamrick, Jetta Funderburk, and Jean Griffith found themselves caroling as the ’46 Christmas holi days drew near. They are pictured here on the steps ot the Governor’s Mansion. Freshmen will grow up. As proof one offers the ’46-’47 mid-term graduates. In cap and gown are Mary Ann Beam, Ann Hood Hughes, Hilda James, Irene Frye, and Martha Hamrick. Jean Griffith, A.A. president, and Dr. Harry Cooper, Music Department Head, were crowned king and queen of the ’47 Play Day Festivities. The Big Three” on the Meredith College campus for the ’46-’47 session seem to be all smiles. They are Helen Wallis, Virginia Highfill, and Jean Griffith—Stu dent Government, Baptist Student Union, and Athletic Association presidents. Ill For their gift-project, the Class of ’47 leaves the Hut newly outfitted with shelves, lamps, coat racks, cabi nets, drapes, and other colorful decorations. The Seniors will remember for a long time the gay entertainment they enjoyed at “The Mexican Moon- glow Supper Club.” The lovely senoritas that helped to make the Junior-Senior more colorful are Jane Lassiter, Shirley Parker, and Dot Childress. All the little Phidos and all the little Goats on the campus chose these two for their leaders. Nancy Gates is president of the Phi Society and Virginia Holcomb IS president of the Astro Society. Pictured here, they await the decision of the judges on Society Night. Senior leaders on the campus are gathered here for tea at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zeno Martin. Jean ^Branch, Nancy Gates, Helen Wallis, Virginia Highfill, Jean Parker, Virginia Holcomb, Martha Hamrick, Jetta Funderburk, and Jean Griffith hold major cam pus offices. The Seniors husked their share at the Hallowe’en Corn-Huskin’ Bee held in the Court. Here we see Carolyn Lockamy, Vicky Manty, Melver Cheek, and Ruth Miller working hard.
