FEBRUARY 8, 1979 THE TWIG PAGE 3 Meredith librarians expand responsibilities by Anne Earp Meredith’s librarians are doing more than stamping books and handing out overdue slips. Many exciting accomplishments are being made in the maze of offices behind the circulation desk. ^ Dr. Jonathan Lindsay, head librarian, was appoint^ editor of North Carolina Libraries in December by the president of North Carolina Library Associates. His duties include coordinating the editorial board and editing with the assistance of the editorial board. This quarterly journal includes both academic and non-academic articles of interest to libraries, and articles providing com munication with tte mem bership of North Carolina Library Associates. The first issue Dr. Lindsay edits will circulate in March. “We are very pleased that North Carolina Libraries will be produced at Meredith College,” commented the new editor. Mr. Herbert Williams, Technical Services Librarian, is associate-editor of the journal. He pro(rfreads ar ticles, helps to decide which ones are to be printed, and assists with editing. Mr. Williams is also Secretary-Treasurer of the O.C.L.C. Users Group for libraries in the Computer Cataloging Network which was formed in December. This network simplifies inter- library loans and obtaining reference materials. The new group, a sup plement to local and national meetings, allows members to solve problems of computer cataloging through panel discussions and question-and- answer sessions. Its next meeting will be in May at Meredith. Herb Williams and Jonathon Lindsay examine a copy of North Carolina Libraries. .What are yoa doing?
