Davidson Community The Meredith team was on the road again the following day when they met at Davidson Community College on Jan. 27th. The Angels were victorious 56-53 witti Kathy Owen as top scorer with 14, Kay Pollock following with 12 and Jane Campbell with 12. Lynn Helms who had 10 points, and was 4-4 from the foul line was the clutch player in the game. Helms was fouled in the last minutes of the game and had to make the shots from the free throw line to assure the Angel victory. Coach Chamblee said it was Lynn’s best game. Top rebounders were Jane Campbell with 10 and Alisa Robertson with 10. UNC-Wilmington On Tuesday, Jan. 30th, the Angels were again on the road, this time to Wilmington where they were defeated by a tough UNC-W team 57-75. The lead changed hands numerous times and was tied often throughout the game. At the 4 minute mark, UNC-W made 4 unanswered baskets and then went into a stall with an 8 point lead. In desperation, the Meredith team fouled, hoping the opposers would miss the free throws. But UNC-W hit 15-15 from the line and widened an 8 point lead to 18 points in just 1 minute and 30 seconds. Alisa Robertson was credited as playing her best game. Coach Chamblee really commended Alisa as she scored 17 points and 10 rebounds which were both game highs for the Meredith squad. Also, in double figures was Jane Campbell with 10. As far as the actual playing goes. Coach Cham blee said it was the best team defense, a zone defense, that the team has played. The Angels also ran the best man- to-man offense so far this year. The Meredith team made good passes and took good shots. The overall play was excellent and surely it was a heart-breaking loss for the team. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! TEST PREPARATION SPECIALISTS SINCE 193E Visit Our Ctnttrs And S..
