SEPTEMBER 12, 1983 THE nWG Festival to teach of Medieval life Treger to perform [Continued From Page 7) will visit the Meredith campus Monday evening September 26 to discuss his most recent opera^belerd and Hetolse. The story of the opera concerns the love affair between Peter At)elard, a famous clerlc- scholar of the twelfth century and Heloise, his free-thiniing pupii. ITie opera was premiered by the Charlotte Opera Association in February, 1982 and received wide criticai ac claim. Professor Ward’s discussion wlii begin at 7 p.m. in the Carlyie Campbell Library Projection Room (Room 75) and wiii be followed by a video taped presentation of the opera. Place: Carlyle Campbell Projection Room Time: September 26, 7 p.m. Convocation: Courtiyand Popular Music Singing Troubadours The duet team of Mary Feeney and Gerald 1^ Far- nham wlii present a special presentation of Medieval Courtly and popuiar music at Meredith College on September 30 at 10 am. Together since 1977, the two now combine Mr. Famham's iute piaying and rich bvitonewlth Ms, Feeney’s fuli, warm soprano. The comedic and dramatic taients of both wili aid the audience in un derstanding of the many moods and colors of medieval times. Place: Jones Auditorium Time: Friday, September 30, 1983 10am. Medieval Manuscripts Several medieval manuscripts from Dulie 'University will be on display In the Carlyle Campbell Library during the Medieval Fetlval. All of Xte manuscripts displayed date from the thirteenth cen tury. These manuscripts provide excellent ecamples of the illumination and supurb pennftanship that was characteristic of the manuscripts of the medieval period. fHace: Carlyle Campbell Library Date: September IS to October 10 Medieval Flim Festive In conjunction with the Medieval Festival that will be held at Meredith College In September, a film festival wlii be held. The Film Festival will highlight four films that deal with topics related to medieval life. The films were sheeted to demonstrate the various aspects of medieval life.
