IF THIS DOES NOT PERTAIN TO YOU PASS IT ON TO A FRIEND Kate Kenney prepares for USA pageant Twenty-three year old Kate Kenney of FWeigh won the title of Mles North Carolina U.S.A. 1665 In Greensboro last August. On April 20, she will depart for Lakeland, Florida to begin an exciting month of activities which will culminate in Kate's competing for the coveted title of Miss U.S.A. 1986, to be telecast live from Lakeland on May 13, on the CBS Television Network. Should she win this competition ^e will go on to represent the U.S.A. in the Miss Universe Pageant. The vibrant Miss Kenney Is currently spending most of her time preparing for her departure. Kate Is busy choosing a wardrobe for the pageant which Includes a carefully sheeted evening gown since that is onethlrd of the competition. Kate aays, however, "the bathing suit compe tition Is mors Important so I'm working out a lot. I want to be in the beet shape I can for the Pageant." To ready iwself, she jogs three times a week, lifts vnights every other day and does th^Jane Fonda workout every day. Representing your state as Miss North Carolina means making public appearances which Is something else Kate has fit Into her busy schedule. One such appearance was for the Lung Asso ciation where her brother, Steve, who is with the Eaglee Football lean, was also a guest. As for appearing with her brother, Kale says, "it was very «elt- Ing." Kate Is a student and has managed to find time to go to classes, study and help other students prepare for cheer- leading tryouts. Amid all this ictivity Kate still finds time to daydream about the Pageant and wtiat will happen but Is a bit nervous and also very excited. She will do her twst to represent North Carolina and Is looking fonMUTl to her departure. Let's send Kate off to Lakelar>d on April 20 with our best of wishes. New McDonald's RALEIGH-On April 13, McDonald's found Raleighites who were "hungry like the Woifman”. as It celebrated the opening of the world's newest Mc- Onalds restaurant on Hillsborough Street. The new restaurant, located In the site of the old Varsity Theater, has been designed with a SO's theme in honor of McDonald's 30th birthday. Renowned disc jo^sy WOlfman Jack led a procession of SO's auto mobiles and the NCSU Marching Band down Kiilsbon^ugh Street on Saturday, April 13. Those visiting the restaurant registered for an auth»itic 1955 Chewy Bel Air, to be given away April 22. The restaurant's 50’s motiff is unique to the McDonald’s system and Is authentic all the way down to its 1952 Seeburg jukebox, which was fully restored speciflc^iy for the restaurant. Up in Lights Raleigh, March 29-McDonaid’s has put its name "up in lights" on the mar quee of Its newest and most unique rest aurant, located on Hilisbon>ugh Street. The restaurant, former site of the old Varsity Theater across from N.C, State, opened Tuesday, April 2.
