Indoor Picnic! By Julia Skehon Meredith Entertainment Association CMEA) held a picnic on Wednesday, August 29, in Belk Dining Hall. The picnic was originally planned to be an outdoor event, but was moved indoors due to a severe thunderstorm. Despite the rain, the picnic was a huge success. Who ever said a picnic had to be held outside, anyway? Good food, good music, and good friends: whatelse—excluding sunshine-^ould a Meredith student ask for? Those students that braved the storm to come to the cafeteria enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, fK)tato salad, cookies, fresh watermelon, and other picnic fare. While partaking ofthe sumptuous feast (prepared by the able cafeteria staff), students clapped their hands to the country sounds of “Bluegrass Experience.’ Tlie lively band played such favorites as “Bye Bye Love,” “Dueling Banjos," and ;Rocky Top." Senior Elisabeth Willson was heard to say, “It was a shame that the first picnic of the year was rained out, but It was fun to sit and socialize without ants!” Heidi Bledsoe and Shellie Herr, also seniors, said they "enjoyed the gourmet feast and toe-tappin' music,” but wanted to know: “WHERE ARE THE BROWNIES?;?" Wednesday’s picnic was the final event scheduled during MEA Week, which was August 23-30.
