This presenution is sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ, a student-led organization, in the Student Center Annex Iheater of North Carolina Slate Ui ersity. Rides begin at 7:00pm in front of Johnson Hall. by Jody Clower Got the back-from-break blues? If you do, Meredith Entertainment Association has a good reason why you should be happy to be back from all those grueling days of sun, sand and extra sleep. Local talent from Meredith, Slate and Carolina entertain at the MEA “Madcap Follies” amatuer talent night on Wednesay, April 17. Proceeds from this fun event will support two charities. Hopefully, this event that will make you feel a lot better af er that “Spring Break High" wears off. Classes aren’t over yet, so we might as well enjoy ou -selves while we’re here? Whai better way than good fun, food, music and men? Lack of female entertainers at campus events by Karen Nipper Either Meredith College has an aversion to female entertainers, or there are |ust not enough female entertainers out there. Most, if not all, solo singers or DJs who have performed at Meredith functions have been male, although a few bands have had both male and female members. Meredith Entertainment Association representatives say that MEA basically gives anyone who calls in a chance at a gig at Meredith, but that very few applicants are female. Is the entertainment world suffering from a lack of female participation? If so, why? Perhaps it is just the Raleigh area that is being deprived. Encourage female entertainers to visit Mtredi^ as well as to "make it big!” Meredith Musicians to perform with Raleigh Symphony Orchestra Five Meredith music majors are winners in the 7th Annual Student Concerto Audition and will perform with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00pm in Jones Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public. Performing will be Susan Wall, mezzo-soprano; Heidi Sue Williams, soprano; Alice Nell Jorgenson, piano; Michele Daughtry, piano; Heidi Ann Williams, piano. Congratulations and best wishes for a stellar concert. Page 4 March 2991
