Meredith Herald November 8, 2000 Nov Cornhuskin ’ 2000 Students parade in style Stephanie Jordan Copy Editor Everybody loves a parade, especially the Meredith com munity. On Friday. Nov. 3, at 3;30 p.m. a crowd of students, facul ty. friends and family gathered along the front drive to watch this year's Cornhuskin’ parade. Freshmen led the way with an arch of black, white and star* speckled balloons that reflected their theme of acting and movie stars, Take 1. “I didn’t know what to expect so I just watched this year. It was fun to see the way each class played on their theme,” said Meredith Parker, ’04. The Class of 2003 followed with an impressive turn out of flappers, gangsters and dancers mixed in with yellow sweat shirts that announced their theme, 20 Steps Out. Erin Taylor, class Corn huskin' co-chair said, “1 always love the parade. It’s a time to let go of the stress of the week before and just start having fun.” Having two years of experi ence, the juniors followed. For Round 3, there were cow and horse-costumed students, line dancers, hay wagons and crook riders. “It’s my favorite part of Cornhuskin’,” said Annette Snyder, '02. Senior class members represent their class' sophomore year on board the fire truck. “I especially liked the way we pulled in the other themes, with the Double or Nothin’ people throwing cards and the Heavenly Reflections people throwing candy.” she contin ued. Anna Walston, who headed the parade committee for the class of 2002. said that “the juniors pulled together this year for great participation in our parade.” And for the grand fmale. the seniors pulled out all the stops. Countless convertibles, trucks and cars representing each of their four themes were filled with excited seniors. Lori Neff co-chaired the senior’s parade committee with Kelli Parrish. Neff said, “Kelli and I began in the summer listing the things we wanted and got confir mations. Some things, like the marching band, were easier to get than others because we luckily had friends in the right places.” Parrish added that she was “very pleased with the outcome.” “I got a lot of compli ments on our parade, so I think everyone else enjoyed it too,” noted Parrish. Cornhuskin’ co-chairs in particular were excited about the cooperation they felt between the classes. “Overall the ideal of achiev- Juniors lead their way into the parade on Friday afternoon. Price, who will be entering the army later this month, said, "One thing I will remember about this Cornhuskin' was the true spirit that all the classes showed. I hope that contin ues.” Amanda Isham, the other junior class co-chair, felt the unity from each of the other seven co-chairs and enjoyed working with all of them. ‘There were never any neg ative feelings,” she said.
