No matter how much you resist, somehow you always man age to overspend during the holiday season. Join the club. During the rampant retail buying blitz so com mon around Christmas time, consumer impulse buying is at its hipest. Procrastination is usually attributed to this buyii^ trend. Don’t become a sta tistic; beat the consumer reports by doing your homework. That's right, research. I know a style savvy student's work is never done, but your extra cash-filled clutch will thank you for it. First, fmd out what the hottest holiday gifts are this season before even entering into mega-mall mania. The hottest gifts this season range from faux*fur chub- hies to monogrammed wristlets. Remember, luxe is the theme for die season. Here are some great gift ideas to give (or receive) this very merry Christmas: faux-fur statement boots with satin laces, cool cos metic candy, whacky watches that double as bracelets, monogrammed handbags, faux-fur bombers (a.k.a. chubbies), vintage pieces like sweaters, broaches, or tea sets, cashmere scarves and sweaters, "estate" jewelry like the popular chandelier earrings and faux-crocodile bags or gloves. Second, remember the slogan, "Luxe for less.” Yes. It is definitely possible to find hot holiday items on a shoe-string budget. Thanks to its mass market appeal, cashmere has defi nitely become affordable this season. The popularity of faux-fur and faux^animal skins will definitely help you stay within your buy ing budget as well. "Masstige" stores such as T^et, promise to bring you luxe for less widi the introduction of fashion for ward collections from Todd Oldham, Isaac Mizrahi, and Swell.
