THE SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION Notification of a Search and Rescue emergency will normally be received via established police communication system. I Such information requesting Civil Preparedness assistance by the Police Depart ment will be reported to the Civil Preparedness director. He will assume full charge for the conduct of the Search and Rescue operation. This operation shall be conducted in accordance with the Civil Preparedness Plan — example: 1. Establish and operate an Emergency Center [EOC]. 2. Establish and operate a communiciations center. 3. Coordinate man power resources; police, fire, rescue, civil preparedness. 4. Establish search and rescue area in accordance with reported incident. Search and Rescue notification will be issued through the area coordinator and Block Captains. This notification will include the name and description of the indi vidual and reason for the search. Please be advised whenever a Search and Rescue operation is requested, the Town Police will be informed first. J. S HENYECZ CIVIL PREPAREDNESS DIRECTOR _________ oGo FROM THE POLICE CHIEF North Carolina has passed a law requiring that seat belts be worn when a car is in operation. It is obvious that some residents are not complying. The fine for this violation is $25.00 plus $40.00 court costs. The grace period is over and this law will now be enforced. Buckle up! It's cheaper than you think! FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT The Fire Department is looking for a secretary to take and type the minutes at their business meetings which are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. If you are interested in helping in this way contact Chief Crawford at the Town Hall or Captain Bob Gallo at 247-4865. FROM THE LIBRARY A winter film program of classic films is scheduled for every Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the North Carolina Aquarium. In January the films will be: January 15th, THE GREAT ZIEGFELD [1935] with William Powell, Myrna Loy, Luise Rainer, Frank Morgan and Fannie Brice. January 22nd, QUALITY STREET [1937] with Katherine Hepburn, Franchot Tone, Eric Blore and Fay Bainter. January 29th, SUMMERTIME [1955] with Katherine Hepburn, Rossano Brazzi et al. In February: February 5th, LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY [1936] with Freddie Bartholomew, Mickey Rooney, Doris Costello Barrymore. February 12th, TOM JONES [1963] with Albert Finney, Susannah York, Hugh Griffith, Edith Evans and David Warner. February 19th, STRIKE UP THE BAND [1940] with Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Paul Whiteman.
